In which cases do you use SkinMed+ Super products?

I mostly use SkinMed+ Super 500 ml and 115 ml, I also use hydrogels for a shorter period of time.

Historically, a half-percent Dakin solution was used, which was mass-produced during World War I by Jonson & Johnson. Common concentrations for use in endodontics range from 0.5 to 5.25%. Lower concentrations dissolve mainly necrotic tissue; higher concentrations are more effective but also dissolve healthy tissue, which is generally undesirable. Clinical efficacy has not been shown to increase at concentrations above 1 %. In our case, however, the disadvantage of SAVO® is its very high pH and the fact that it is not intended for application to living tissue. At my previous workplace I tried and liked SkinMed+ Super.

Unlike Sava, which contains sodium hydroxide in addition to the aforementioned hypochlorite, SkinMed+ Super is a non-irritating, neutrally buffered solution of sodium hypochlorite, perchloric acid and hydrogen peroxide. The composition and the almost neutral pH make it suitable for use not only in endodontics, but also in rinsing heavily contaminated wounds, lavage of post-traumatic fistulas, rinsing of ear canals and even the abdominal cavity, as well as in debridement. It can be said without exaggeration that it contributes to tissue repair much better than e.g. povidone iodide-based preparations.

One example for all: a 4-month-old Yorkshire terrier scalped on about 30-40% (!) of its body by a large dog. The animal was put under analgosedation (medetomidine/fentanyl/oxygen). It took approximately 40 minutes to clean up the remnants of usable skin and remove completely bruised precincts, coarse dirt and hair. Another 40 minutes were spent on the plastic repair of the defect. The animal was very active the next day and the wounds healed completely without complications within 14 days.

I have been using this product successfully in all of the above indications for more than 2 years, and therefore will gladly and in good conscience recommend it to other colleagues.
